Just heard of Larrys passing my sincere condolences to all his family .isoent 1978/79 my first year teaching in Balieborough Vocational school where Larry encouraged many of us teachers out of our comfort zone to join Aisteori Drumlin where we went on to win Amateur all Ireland Drama festival great memories may you Rest In Peace Larry

Deepest sympathies to you all on the death of Larry. I met Larry in the 1990s, when I went to work for Co Monaghan VEC. I worked with him to found The Garage Theatre. He was a great mentor and friend, who encouraged me continuously. A man who loved and valued the arts, he has left his mark in Monaghan, Cavan, and Donegal. I will miss his wit, his warmth, and his conversation, always stimulating.

The members of City of Dublin ETB at their meeting last week asked me to express their sympathy with Larry’s family and friends.
On a personal note I worked with Larry in Ballieborough and Bray and we were old sparing partners. His indomitable spirit and enthusiasm for life will be sadly missed.

In his role as CEO of Co Monaghan VEC Larry’s vision, drive and determination led to the development of new educational and cultural services & facilities across the county, including the establishment of Monaghan Institute, the Garage Theatre and Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre – a lasting legacy of public service to the local community and for the common good. In so doing, his work provided employment, expanded learning and development opportunities locally and supported the local economy.

Larry, respected colleague, mentor and friend, now that ‘the fever of life is over and your work is done’, may you rest in peace.

So sorry all Larry’s friends and colleagues cannot be with you to share in your mourning. Larry and I go back to 1955 and our last communication was the day before his operation when he was still in fighting spirits looking forward to the next challenge. His contribution to every area he took on was immense – to education, drama and his beloved Cootehill Celtic. He was a perfectionist and strove to leave every role he took on all the richer for his contribution. He will be missed in so many quarters. No doubt Seamus Heaney , among other greats of the arts world, will have a warm welcome for him

He remained a loyal and sincere friend to Teddy & the McGoey Family down through the years. Larry frequently made a great contribution to the annual Goldsmith Summer School. “If you have the words, there’s always a chance you’ll find the way”, Séamus Heaney. Larry always had the words & the way forward.
