I worked in O'Dwyer's and Sinnott's, I have friends worldwide, and a host of great memories because of my time working for Liam, I have nothing but the highest respect for Liam. Always stopped for a chat, and always had an idea in the making behind a wry smile and a twinkly eye!
Sincere condolences to Mary, Lorraine, AnnMarie, Michelle, and extended family and friends.
— Michelle Moran - NYC
I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Liam. As a former neighbour we have very fond memories of Liam walking Millie every day. What a gentleman. Heartfelt condolences to Mary and to Anne Marie who was previously our neighbour.

Heartfelt sympathy to Liam’s extended family. I was a regular customer in O’Dwyers, Mount Street in the 80’s and 90’s, when O’Dwyers was considered a sub-office of the Irish Dairy Board!! Liam was always good humoured, kind, and above all, a gentleman. He will be sadly missed.

I was very sad to learn of the death of Liam. I operated my business just a few yards from O'Dwyers pub in Lower Mount Street in the eighties and early nineties and frequented the pub for lunch on a daily basis over the years. Liam was a man with a passion for pub furnishings and travelled abroad many times to acquire the very best of odd pieces as decorative material for the pub. I wish to express my deepest sympathies to his family on his untimely passing. May Liam now rest in peace.
Sincerely,
— Brendan Malone
To Lorraine and the extended O'Dwyer family, so sorry to hear of your loss. A legend of Irish hospitality gone.

One day on a visit to the site I had to explain to a colleague that the man in the string vest with the shovel and wheelbarrow was indeed the owner of Break for the Border. No ego here. If you were from Foxrock or the flats Liam treated everyone with respect kindness and loyalty. With great love and friendship comes enormous loss and Liamo is an enormous loss. I was privileged to have called him my friend
Sincere condolences to his family .

Really saddened to hear of Liam's death. My sincere condolences to his family. I have many happy memories of the times myself and my late husband, Michael Kearney, spent in O'Dwyers of Mount Street in the late 1970s with a bunch of friends. Our first born daughter arrived in November 1977 in Holles Street Hospital whlle my husband waited patiently in O'Dwyers. She arrived late at night and Mick came to see me carrying a bottle of champagne. I was naturally thrilled and it was much, much later that he confessed that it was actually Liam who sent me the champagne! Typical Liam, a terrific personality and generous nature. The world is a sadder place without him.
— Maureen Kearney

It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Liam O' Dwyer this week. Liam gave me my first bar job in Dublin city centre way back in 1990 in Sinnott's Bar and I remained in his employment for nearly ten years. They were without any doubt some of the best years of my professional life and I owe it all to Liam. He was always extremely kind and thoughtful with me and for that I will always be extremely grateful. The impact that he has made in Dublin city and the licensing trade itself is immeasurable . It is a very sad moment but the wonderful memories will live on. I extend my sincerest sympathies to all his family at this sad time at the loss of a truly remarkable man. Forever in your debt.
