I was shocked and saddened to hear the bad news. My condolences to the Reilly family and friends. I got to know Liam when we both lived in Savannah. I called him the Music Man. He was always lilting an old one or a new creation. What a talent, from concept, to writing the lyrics and music and then performing it and many became hits for himself and others. He put life into living, he gave life energy which we all needed back in the 80's when the economy was so bad. The 'Flight of Earls' summed it up. We shared many a happy moment and many funny stories. He was so witty. Lots of laughs.

But their spirit will be strong when they march in the parade
The Music Man will inspire them when they sign 'Savannah Serenade'
We will all miss you and your merry ways, but your music will outlive us all.

Just heard of the sad passing of your dear brother Paula. Please accept my sincere sympathy and condolences to al the Reilly family. I listened to his music for years but never made the family connection. A true loss to the music world and to all of us. May he now Rest in Peace.

Dear mrs Reilly , Evelyn , Barbara , Darina , & Paula , we are so sorry for your loss , we loved Liam and Bagatelle , we actually got together over a Bagatelle tape back in 1989 , started dateing, got married in 1990, and have 2 girls and a boy , and a lovely grand, daughter , always went to see bagatelle when they were playing local, and what a beautiful mass for Liam , and a very fitting song at the end , may Liam Rest In eternal peace , he will be missed , my favourite song of all is the song for Stella , a beautiful song , god bless jacqui xxxxx

Darina Pat Liam and the whole family, we are so heartbroken that you had to say goodbye to your lovely brother and uncle so suddenly. He has left an enormous legacy with his music and hopefully that will give you some comfort in the months and years to come.

As a Dubliner I thank Liam for that wonderful classic song Summer in Dublin. I used to sing it to my three small daughters in the car. Because the song mentions Dun Laoghaire where we live - one of them got it into her head that I was singing about myself. When I sang the line “stopping off to pick up my guitar” she always said “ but Daddy you don’t have a guitar.” Condolences to the family of this genius songwriter whose legacy will live forever.
