LILY (ELIZABETH) O'NEILL

Few could brighten up a dark day like Lily could by just being herself.
With no need to turn on the charm Lily held a reserved confidence, the type you carry when you live not for the expectations of others, but your own. Living and being yourself at times isn't easy, yet Lily always found ways to overcome difficulties and express gratitude for life.

Leading by example, she was never afraid to roll up her sleeves and do some work. Her practice of the pursuit of knowledge and culture was something she promoted and encouraged in others. Though she may often have missed those close to her heart, she was always a happier person when she learned of the travels that took them on different paths.

Acceptance of our flawed nature as humans was something that Lily had in spades, focusing on the positive nature of the human spirit.
For many, visiting Lily was like finding a calm, welcoming island in rough seas.

Lily was the kind of person who could replace the company of anybody, but whose company nobody could replace. While as capable of highbrow thought as any mind, she would as likely answer “Sure, why would I be bothered with that” if pressed with a question that might challenge the natural stoicism she exhibited that most of us lack in our daily lives.

She loved through consistent actions, sharing what she could, be it time or otherwise, carrying a positive regard for those she met along her road.
Her spirit is easy to recognize in those she was close with and close to.

Lily was such a wonderful character - witty, grounded and wise. I have great memories of her with my mother Sheila, and she was a fantastic friend to her. She will be sadly missed.
