Sincere sympathy to the Tallon family and to his companion, Betty, on the death of Mick. During my years in the Library service I always loved to see him coming. An officer and a gentleman with a great sense of humour. Though he has died he will live on in our memories. May he rest in peace.
Our deepest sympathy to Michael, Melissa, Sandra, Marise and to Betty and the extended family on Mick's passing. We honestly thought that Mick would go on forever, a respected elder of our community. We turned to him for advice on gardening, domestic diy projects, good wine, golf, and just about everything. The "Anybody home? " at the back door signalled his arrival and a good chat or discussion would ensue. A wonderful neighbour and a dear friend. He will be missed.

A very sad day for the Tallon family, Betty, Mick’s friends , colleagues ,and acquaintances. Mick loved people , children in particular. When we were kids, beyond the supervision of our parents, there was always the pair of paternal wings of Mick Tallon. My children in turn also grew very fond of him. In a conversation he invariably managed to include some reference to his own family also.

Mick was exceptionally generous with sharing the knowledge he gained from experience. If you listened you learned.
A master of the 6 ft putt , he could also reduce a par 4 to a Drive , a pitch and a putt . He had a “little Jigger”.
He was more than a past Captain of Athlone Golf Club , he was a pillar that supported that sporting community for 70 years.
