Whenever I met Paddy and Marianne, she was always so friendly and spontaneous. Her warmth and convivial nature will stay in my memory.

Words cannot describe how I felt when I recently heard of your passing. My sincere condolences to Paddy, Fiona & all the Gallagher family. Marianne always mentioned you all and how proud she was of you and her grandchildren as we kept in touch over the years. I will miss getting the lovely cards in the post. She was inspirational & fun.

Marianne taught me in Manor House, Raheny, Dublin in the 1960's. We met many years later through Bishopston hillwalking and she was as beautiful, young at heart and vibrant as I remembered her as a most loved teacher 40 years earlier. May she Rest In Peace

Remembering with love my beautiful sister Marianne. We were each other's best friend and companion all through our growing up years. She took care of me in boarding school in the homesick times, which were many, and we subsequently shared many interests and friends. Good night Marianne rest in peace ,my lovely sisterI. My deepest condolences to the Gallagher clan. Marianne was a lovely, bubbly person, full of wit and fascinating stories, and she was sorely missed by all of her colleagues when she retired.

We were shocked and greatly saddened to learn of Marianne's death. Sincerest sympathy to Paddy and your family whom she adored. It is impossible to do justice to Marianne in words. It is a privilege to have known her and to have spent time in her company. She contributed significantly to CIT during her many years there. She was passionate about French culture and language, educated and engaged enthusiastically with her students, brightened up their lives and those of her colleagues. Her book about her father Liam Manahan, his involvement in the War of Independence and their shared attachment to Ballylanders was one of love and academic achievement. We have often talked about her entertaining retirement speech and recall it as one which was delivered as a born communicator with great humour, aplomb and her usual elegance and class. We will never forget her and we will join you online for her Requiem Mass. May she rest in peace.
