I was shocked and very sad to learn of Marie's death. We had many great chats during our various campaigns with the Labour Party and particularly enjoyed tracing our shared roots in Mayfield. She was blessed with a sharp wit and a sense of humour that could be absolutely wicked if you were on the wrong end of it, I will miss her. Deepest condolences to Rebecca and all of Marie's family.

I'm very sad and sorry to hear of Marie's death. We had a lovely adventure in Puglia years ago and we took a trip to Kilkenny to see Yanis Varofakis too. I'm sorry that Margot didn't have more time with her. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace.

We are shocked and saddened to hear about Marie's passing. I (Gisele) met Marie many years ago when she was living in Wandsworth Bridge Road. Though we are still living in London, our paths have crossed many times in London and Dublin; we have followed all the developments in Marie's life. Marie has always been welcoming me when I visited Dublin, she took me out to parties and shows which we both enjoyed so much like "Cabaret" at the Gaiety Theatre. Also I met her when she used to come to London and I know we both enjoyed our care free chats. We are thinking of you all at this difficult time.

To Rebecca and family, I cannot begin to imagine the pain that you are all going through. Your mother was a legend in the truest sense of the word. Not just for her dedication to social justice but also because of her incredible sense of adventure. I feel like I saw so much of the world through her Instagram page. She is an inspiration to us all, to just love every day of our lives, to try new things and to be kind to all those in need. I know Rebecca she was always so proud of all you have done to make the world a better place. May she rest in power!

Im so sad and shocked to hear of Marie's passing. She was a lovely kind woman. I was fortunate to have Marie as a teacher for Law and Human Resources in Pearse College and then equally as fortunate to have her daughter Rebecca as a teacher too.
Both fantastic teachers.
Marie always wanted you to succeed and she made you feel you could.
She was a very inspirational teacher, who was very passionate about the subject matter she taught. We learned a lot from her and we had the occasional laugh with her in class, where she would be trying to move on the lesson by saying.... Okay, moving on, with a grin still on her face. She had a great smile.
She was a lot of things, but most of all, she was a lady.

Rest in Peace Marie. You will be very missed.

My condolones to all the Moynihan/Rooney and extended families.
