Martin O'Regan

I remember being a kid, and only ever fitting my hand around two of your fingers, but feeling so secure in your hold. I remember sitting by your bedside in our last few days with your hand wrapped around two of my fingers, squeezing them every now and then, and still feeling so safe and happy in your hold.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be
So He put his arms around you and whispered 'come to me.'

With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes 'The Best.'

I'll never stop being proud to be yours, and I'll never stop thinking about the best dad on earth.

Dad,
So many things have changed in the past two months already; your room's been cleaned and your familiar, comforting smell has almost gone out of things. Most of the time, I feel that although everything is moving past me,I'm stuck in time, stuck in my own memories of you.
I remember sitting on your lap 'driving,' and I remember the first time I actually drove; you sitting in the passenger seat alongside me. I wasn't scared then, because I knew you'd never let me be hurt, that my dad would always take care of me. These past two months, it feels like that 'safe' feeling had left  along with you.
I remember our sit-down chats, late at night, where you promised me to teach and to tell me so much; I remember all the proud stories of your own time with your dad you'd tell me about, and I never stop thinking of all the time we were supposed to have together.

Only now three weeks on from Martins untimely passing do I realise how much these messages can mean to a grieving family. It's still hard to belive such a sound, powerful man has gone. To all of Martins wonderful family we extend our deepest sympathies
