I met Mary in 2003 on a pilgrimage to Ireland to see where my great-grandmother Rose McGahey Rogers (Mary’s cousin) was born before she emigrated to the USA. Mary not only showed me around the family sights, but took me into her home, telling me to cancel my hotel reservations and stay with her. She regaled me with stories of her life and our shared family members and I will never forget her love, her laugh, and her kindness. I visited her again with my family in 2019, and I was so glad to see her. She was so warm, funny, and welcoming and we all think of her with affection. I am so grateful I got to know her.

May Mary rest in peace, a real gentle lady. Treasured memories of a lovely neighbour.
