Maura has long been a constant in our lives. Her love of books translated into her Christmas presents to us as children - always books. Beautiful hardbacks that reflected her search to find the right book for each of us. We loved the parcels arriving on Christmas Eve and the excitement of seeing what she had chosen for us.

Many thanks to Martin, Eddie & Pat Mortimer for arranging the funeral services, the behind the scenes team at the Parish of Assumption. Fr Gerry Kane for the Requiem Mass & Committal, the accompanying music which she would have loved and Rom Massey & Sons attention to detail which she would have very much appreciated. We are truly grateful for the many kindnesses shown during this time.

Condolences and sympathy to Martin on his loss and huge thanks for his kindness and caring for Maura.

We have missed and will miss Maura. She was a person of curiosity, possibilities and positivity. Combined with a sense of justice & adventure she was always engaging & engaged in life. We remember with great fondness our many happy times together.

Rest in peace.

Sympathy to Matin on his loss, and deep gratitude for his care of Maura. A fiercely independent women, she had a variety of interests – books, cinema, theatre, opera, and fashion. Her love of music led her to take a degree in music, an achievement of which she was justifiably proud. She valued education, and her link with Bolton Street meant a great deal to her as did and did her role as a reader for exam students. Maura is the last link to an older generation of Ryans and O’Connells, and held so much of our family history. When she shared her memories she almost always found the humour in the story, and always shared her insights. Our last trip to Moneygall and Laughton House was a revelation – she remembered childhood visits to my grandmother’s, adding details to stories and events we thought we knew and understood. She shone in company – and now her light has gone out. Thanks to Martin, Pat and Eddie for organising such an appropriate and thoughtful funeral service. Maura was blessed in her friends. May she rest in peace.

So saddened to read of Maura’s departure from Planet Earth. She was such a kind neighbour and friend to my late Mum and Dad Tom and Angela Flood. She was kindness personified to my Dad after my Mum’s passing. Pity I never took the chance to relay these words to her! I hope and pray this beautiful (inside and out) woman meets with the same kindness and compassion she bestowed on all who met her here in life. May the next part of her journey begin.......
Go gently beautiful being
