Recall one snowy day you arrived in St. Felims school, (some distance from town) having alighted from the Cavan bus at 10.30am much to the annoyance of head master who did not like your townie attitude, fellow townie pupils were envious that they had not thought of that mode of transport themselves. Heard good stories about you over the years. Sympathies to Vivienne and rest of family.
— Martin Harmon ex drumbannon now Dublin

Vivienne, we are all deeply sorry for the loss of Mick. He was a great and constant artist on Merrion Square for years. He will be remembered there as the cigar smoking, quiet, kind gentleman, with a good word for all. May he rest in peace.

Very sad and shocked to hear on the sad passing of Mick.
Mick hung his Art every Sunday from the mid 2000’s. A stalwart and presence on the Holles Street corner. The cigar, the cap ,the chat and the varied life. A great character that we will miss.
Last spoke to him about a pastel study of boots nicely observed he had on display , before restrictions and events of the last two years.
Condolences to Vivienne and family.
Rest easy Mick , wherever the pitch is.
— Willie Redmond-Artist- Merrion Square

Vivienne and family. .

Mickey was definitely one of a kind-- funny, smart, generous and loved music. I knew him from working in Donovan's of Bayside and we shared many stories, craic & politics over the years. I still have a pencil sketch he did of James Connolly on a placemat from the restaurant-- he was very talented. The last time we saw him was in 2007. I didn't have an address for him but was told that if we walked around Stephen's Green on a Sunday morning, we might find him selling his art. Sure enough, after looking for nearly an hour, we found him and shocked the hell out of him! Sorry he was ill. Our condolences to Vivienne and all his family and friends.

Mick and I were friends in London and he came to stay with us when he moved to New York. He was a lot of fun. I remember him going to see Cosmos (soccer team) and he lost his way but followed a car with a bumper sticker with Cosmos on it - and arrived at Giants Stadium - on time for the game. He was one of a kind.

Sincere sympathy to Viviene and her family on the passing of Michael. I walked into a Tavern over 30 years ago out on Bell Boulevard in Bayside Queens New York with a good mate ,Johnnie McConnell also from Bailieborough. We struck up conversation with an Irishman at the counter and it turned out to be Michael, 3 men from the same small town 3000 miles away, 2 of whom were painters.
