Our sincerest sympathy to Isabel, Cathy, Patrick, Grand-children & the wider Donnellan family on the sad death of your father Michael; my kind and gracious friend who manifested all the finer instincts of the Human psyche.
Since we first met in January, 1973 on both taking up duty to work in Clare County Council, we developed a great affinity for the interests we shared. He was the epitome of kindness and generosity . He exhibited complete integrity in all aspects of his working career.
When we both left our posts some years later, Michael on promotion to his beloved Limerick City Council as a Chief Engineer and I to U.C.C. our friendship was not in any way diminished bneither by time nor distance.
His interest in the development of the Irish language together with his scholaristic achievents in Greek and Roman Civilisation study all marked him out as a person of intellectual substance..

I am sorry to hear that Michael has passed away. I have fond memories of working with Michael in Limerick Corporation in the early 90s. He was such a lovely kind man, a gentleman and a scholar.
