Sincere sympathies to Lorraine, Paul, Niall and the extended Durnan family on Michael’s death. He was a great colleague with whom I shared thirty years in the Vocational School. Always positive, always helpful. We shared a love of gardening and I was frequently the recipient of gifts of tomato plants from him. We also shared a love of sport but no matter how hard I tried I could never match him on the squash court in the barracks. May he Rest In Peace.

Monday last I lost a very good friend and colleague owing to the death of Michael Durnan.. I apologise to all of the family in not being able to meet you all in person but I’m now living in Drakelands House, Nursing Home. I extend to all of you my sincere condolences on the loss of a great Father and family man, teacher, and work colleague.Rest in Peace dear friend with Carmel and your sister safe in the arms of Jesus and Mary, “ Lady of Lourdes.”.

So saddened to hear of Michael’s passing. His help to me with grinds got me over the line in Leaving Certificate Maths way back in 1972. Later as a Rugby referee he equally excelled. My condolences to all Michael’s family.
