Sincere condolence to Kathleen and her family and to Michael John's many friends on their sad loss. Michael John was a lover of sports, be it soccer, rugby, handball, or table tennis, and he excelled at all of them. Like his brother Ollie, he was a great competitor and those of us who played against him can testify that he took no prisoners, especially when playing for Bohs.
Michael John was a lovely character with great nature, he would give you the shirt off his back, as Catherine said in the eulogy. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him.

Sincere sympathy to Mrs Burke and family on the passing of Michael John a good and decent man whom I knew during my time in Connemara National Park. When National Parks were part of O.P.W. he looked after many construction projects in C.N.P.. A Government decision to move Parks from O.P.W. caused the loss to Parks of the good knowledge of Michael John. May God grant him eternal rest.
