Michael was very much part of my childhood when we visited from London in the 50s and 60s with our Irish mother, staying with our grandparents. For my brother and I these were magical times that were never forgotten. We were entranced by the Lynch Bros Ceili band and the hospitality of the whole family. In later years I had some very interesting discussions with Michael. A wonderful man for both music and politics. A real gentleman, too. Heartfelt condolences to Oliver, Sheila, Liam and all the family.

I was so sorry to hear of Michael’s passing and I extend my very sincere sympathy to all the Lynch family. He really was one of life’s true gentlemen, a man who had time for everyone no matter who they were or how busy he was. As an Oireachtas member and a Councillor for so many years, he was known far and wide as being a man of his word and of the highest integrity. I had the pleasure of knowing Michael over a long number of years on a number of levels and I always had the height of respect for him. Michael, now that you’re with those already gone before you, there’ll be some music sessions to be heard in Heaven for sure! Rest in peace my friend. It was a pleasure and a privilege knowing you.
