Uncle Mick was a great fun to be with - he brought me out on his work route a few times and I always had a laugh. The way he dealt with people was always interesting - a few jokes, a few tricks, and he always had time to do a bit of plumbing as well !
Once in our house he saw my brother Ritchie putting the third or fourth spoon of sugar into his cup of tea. Says Mick to Ritchie ... " Ritchie - I see you like a bit of tea with your sugar " Ahaaa
That was about 50 years ago
Rest in peace Mick

So many good memories of Mick. As an uncle, he was ever-present and always lots of fun with a cheeky sense of humor. Whenever he visited us in Rory O’Connor Park, it was an occasion, out came the biscuits or buns, time for tea or coffee, catching up over yarns and stories. He knew Dun Laoghaire inside and out, loved its lore and history and did so much to preserve it for others. Helene and I had the pleasure of hosting Mick and June in our house when they visited Boston some years ago. Ever the historian, Mick picked my brains about local Massachusetts monuments and historical figures. Boy, did he keep me on my toes!!! In later years, on visits to Dun Laoghaire, I would see him with the Victor Matures brothers and friends group on a Thursday night in the Rochestown Lodge. Again, pure fun, great memories. Condolences to all who knew and loved him.
