May I offer my sincere condolences to the Meagan families on the sad passing of Mick. It is a very true statement that some people are not recognised for their contributions to society when they are alive. Mick Meagan was much loved and respected as a football man and will be sadly missed by all football fans throughout Ireland but I don’t believe he got the recognition he deserved. I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Mick during his tenure but he made such a difference in my life growing up. I lived in the middle of the country and my only connection with a soccer club at this time was via the medium of the “Radio” every Sunday. I listened faithfully to Phillip Greene on the sports program. I had a big interest in soccer and I remember the “committee” picking football teams. When Mick took control he had such a great responsibility for if he failed we would be back to the suits again. Even though he had only two games I think he made a monumental success of it. He also managed my favourite club team Rovers and he had a great influence there as well. Mick may you have the best bed in heaven and I am sure you will put together a fabulous team. The Megan family can be so proud and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Amen.

Mick thanks again for pointing Ireland in the right direction
— Jim Hickey Belfast and formally Titled
