He was a mild-mannered, soft-spoken and compassionate man who believed passionately in social justice. Michael served with distinction as a Garda Sergeant in Carndonagh, Co Donegal, and his quest for fairness, truth and justice were hallmarks of his personal and professional life. He always gave of his very best, and his kind, empathetic and caring manner endeared him to all who knew him. He never sought the limelight or adulation, but his exemplary Garda service to the people of Carndonagh will be fondly remembered for may a long year. The busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over and Michael's work is done. "Death is not extinguishing the light: it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come". May he rest in peace.
