Michael Murphy

Sympathy to all the family during this sad time. I recall meeting Mike on 18th June 2017 on Carrauntoohil Mountain during a warm spell of weather when it was 26°C as we crossed paths while he was on the way up and I was heading down. It was nice to stop and have a chat about everything.

I wish to pass on my sympathy to the family on behalf of my Dad (Neilus Horan). He said that he often met Michael while out walking on the Kerry mountains over the years and had great chats with him.

Michael always had warm welcoming smile on his face a smile that came from the heart and lit up a room. His company was infectious he could tell a story like nobody else could. He was one of a kind. With a heavy, heavy heart, condolences to my Aunty Eileen, cousins Padraig and Siobhan and the rest of my family for the loss of my uncle, Mike - an uncle like no other. I always loved when Mike called back to Scart - he was always upbeat, funny and regaling us with tales of the Murphys' Scart sporting glories (especially ones where he might have done better than my Dad, Donie!) and stories from growing up in the village and many more.
