So sad to hear this news. Michael was a lovely man, he always stopped for a chat and a cigeratte. The last conversation we had he was a little upset. A letter had come for Marie and he opened it. It upset him because he had never opened anything addressed to her as long as they were together. I thought it was such a lovely statement from a man that had so much respect for his wife. My sincere sympathy to you on the loss of a really lovely man.

Micháel never failed to put a smile on me and my dad’s face. Every time we met him, it was at least a half an hour of chatting and story telling and of course, a few jokes thrown in here and there. He had the ability to instantly draw the attention of anybody he was around. It was such an honour to be able to look after Michàel on his final journey. He will be so sorely missed, Galway has lost a true gentleman.
