Michael O'Riordan

Very sorry to learn of Mick’s passing. I had the good fortune to work under his direction in Cereals Division, D/Ag, between 1986 and 1990. Mick was so much more than a colleague; he was a teacher, a guidance counsellor, a wordsmith and so many more things. I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say that I learned more during my time working with Mick than I did from anyone else I have ever worked with. He was a fountain of knowledge and wisdom and never forgot his Clyda Rovers/Mourneabbey roots. Rest easy in your own creation of Lapidus Godibus, Mick. Sympathies to all of Mick’s family.

Sincere condolences to the O’Riordan family on the passing of Michael. I worked with him in the Department of Agriculture and he was a lovely kind man and great fun. I met him from time to time in latter years in Harold’s Cross/Rathmines and always enjoyed our chats and his views on various issues. May he rest in peace.

Being in his company was not only fun but always very interesting and I have so many fond memories of times that I and others spent with him away from "the big house" May he rest in peace.

Mick was my boss in Department of Agriculture for many years and a nicer and fairer boss I couldn’t ask for, We had many a laugh together. He was definitely a true gentleman and alway had your back. I was proud to know him.

Knew Mick back in 1960s when we laboured together in old P+ T ,later in Ag. and in retirement in St. Marys CC in Rathmines. Great characther and took life's slings and arrows with his usual equanimity. May his sturdy Cork soul rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his family. Go easy Mick.
