Our deepest sympathies to the extended Scanlon family on the sad loss of Michael. Michael was a good man and he was loved as a teacher. We stayed in contact with Michael in later years when we met him in Listowel and he always had a kind word for everyone. Michael was so proud of the successes of his students. Heartfelt condolences and sympathies to all of the Scanlon family on the the loss of Michael (Mickeen) a great husband and a great father. I was a First Year student of his back in the good old days of September and on and off into May 1991 at Listowel Community College. Wonderful memories, surviving of Indoor Soccer down at the Community Centre, As Gaeilge classes, Civics, and debating the prowess of Serie A soccer results from the Irish Press newspaper on Monday lunchtime afternoon. You learned about life from him. One of the most brilliant minds one could interact with, Michael had a dramatic and superb command of the English language. Underrated and definitely under appreciated at times, he's wry smile and unbounded enthusiasm would always leave an impression. He would always ask about people and looked after us. It did and it has with me. Rest easy Mr. Scanlon.
