Michael Tierney

Very sad to hear of Michael's passing, but it is reassuring to know he passed peacefully in receipt of kind, gentle care at the hospice. I only knew Michael for about 5/6 years through our common interest in classic cars. He could natter all day about different cars he liked or didn't like, the technical pros & cons, and he had so many funny anecdotes! He was very earnest and also droll but he surely had a receptive audience in us fellow old car nuts. The Morris Oxford gave him great joy, being able to get it back after selling it some years back. It had a sentimental link for him to Carmel. He was genuinely at sea over the loss of Carmel, but at least he's with her now. Rest in peace, Michael. My sincere condolences to the Tierney family.

Michael was a good friend of our late Dad. They bonded over their Clare roots and love of vintage cars. Michael was a lovely man with always an interesting word to say and who always spoke so fondly of his late wife Carmel. When we visited him several weeks ago he presented us with a lovely CD of his songs. Sending our condolences and thoughts to Michael's family at this very tough time. So sad to read this. While I never got the chance to meet Michael, my brother Dermot RIP always spoke so fondly of him. It was in the plan to call to visit Michael but sadly we didn't have that chance. They were two North Clare men, living in the midlands, united in the love of their home place, vintage tractors & a good game of hurling.

I have such clear memories of Michael coming into my parents shop in Ballinea.
He was always in good humour.
Even after he left Ballinea he always stayed in touch my father.
