Miriam and my mother (Ann Townshend) were school friends in Mount Anville and they stayed close throughout their lives. Despite her own health difficulties Miriam came with Aoife to visit Mum in the hospice a number of times before she died and their strong connection remained right to the end. They shared a wit and humour and interest in life, and Mum had great admiration for Miriam’s brilliant mind and the incredible career she forged for herself that touched and influenced so many people. I know my mother would be deeply saddened by Miriam’s passing. RIP
