I knew MJ many years ago in Wexford, as a young man. He had an immense personality with a wit which was capable of creating hilarity with a twinge of shock. His talent in art revealed a sensitive man with an ability to communicate his extraordinary courage and humanity. It is impossible to reflect on his life without acknowledging his parents and Margaret who loved him and all his family. Those who have gone before him will welcome him. Those of you who remain will notice his absence and miss him. Nobody he encountered will forget him, no more than I have done. May he rest in peace and as he does, he will forever bring a smile to our personal memories of a remarkable human being.

I married into the Adamstown family decades ago. Life took me on various journeys so I have not been back for a long time.
I remember MJ as a friend who could get himself and everyone else around him into trouble without much effort. What i still call a character whose company was always sought.
