Sincere sympathy to Dolly,Muiris,(Jnr.)Do’nall,Ca’it,Bríd and the extended O’ Cie'irigh family and friends on the sudden passing of Muiris.May he rest in peace. We will miss Si'un and himself calling in for the chat.
— Tom,Pauline and the Ryan family,Turtulla.
I first encountered 'Mr Cleary'- as we referred to him all those years ago - whilst a pupil at Scoil Ailbhe in 1965 and despite the passage of time I still have pleasant memories of his inspirational and innovative teaching style - he encouraged art and there were prizes, purchased at his own expense, for those successful at Christmas exams. We became neighbours subsequently in Muiris's adopted Turtulla, where he was regarded as a good and friendly member of the community, always ready for a brief chat, interspersed with a pithy comment and words of wisdom.
Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
— Joe Tobin, Turtulla.
Dolly, my sympathies to you & the family on your recent loss. You were my teacher in third class in late 80s & also remember Murirs at the time. Thinking of you & the family at this difficult time.
— Shane O' Brien, Waterford City & Tramore.
A meaningful person who served well. Only recently met with Muiris as a powerful person, he created beautiful carvings for our late uncle, now family heirlooms. He insisted on sharing his honey with me last Apri, l now a project to live well in his beautiful memory. We do hope his family are so proud of his legacy in Tipperary and around the world.
— Aine Ryan
Our deepest sympathy to Dolly, Muiris and the rest of the O Cleirigh family. I got to know him when he hosted me in his house and served freshly fished trout on a Sunday morning. I never had such mouthwatering fish ever since. Later on we were glad to welcome him and Dolly in our house at Germany. We never will forget his whimsical smile. May he rest in peace.

Muiris was a force of nature: a fantastic teacher with great energy and a passion for learning, all done with a twinkle in the eye and an easy laugh. I am grateful from having got to be in his classroom for 4th class and to have known him a little down the years afterwards. My sympathy to Dolly, Muiris and all the family: he will be missed. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

To the Ó Cléirigh family. Sincere condolences on the passing of Muiris. Mr. Ó Cléirigh taught myself and my brother as 4th class students in Scoil Ailbhe, Thurles. As we were neighbours, I would sometimes meet your Dad out walking his dog and he was always very pleasant to meet and chat with. Hopefully, he is now at peace.

Sincere condolences to Dolly, Muiris Jr., Cait, Donal and Brid and to the extended Cleary family. I have very happy memories of Muiris in Ard Na Croise. You never knew when the supper menu could change to Snipe, Pheasant or Pike. My mother being a farmers daughter never blinked an eye when she was plucking or gutting Muiris' surprises. Muiris was a kind, gentle and multitalented man who loved the craic and enhanced our home with his presence. He shared interests with my dad in gardening, bee keeping, wine making and of course the love of our native tongue. Muiris will be sadly missed by us all.
