It is with great sadness to hear of Niall passing away. I had plenty of time with him at sea to learn seamanship & rope work. I could always rely on him to tell me where a line crossed over or under. My condolences to Erc and extended family at this time.

I was very saddened to learn of Niall's untimely death. I enjoyed life at sea with him as well as being a great neighbour when we lived out at Robert's Cove, Minane Bridge. We still have a fine bow fender on the bow of our barge which Niall made for me and is a constant reminder of the many happy years we served at sea and lived together. A very professional seaman and a wonderful gentleman. Please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences. Our deepest sympathy to all the Dunne family on the passing of Niall, my Friend.
A great friend on land or at sea, who always looked out for others and put them first. Who never wanted to be the centre of attention anywhere. Who introduced Bear to Rocky Bay and everyone there. Who could tell me I was wrong and make me laugh at the same time. Who could take a joke or a prank with a quiet smile and good humour and return the joke or prank later with the same mischievous good humour. Who could calm down a panic situation with a few quiet words or even not so quiet. Who always made the time to stop and talk, help or commit random acts of kindness for anyone. It seems he was well known for this but kept it quiet. (Matthew 6:3 "But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing"). Niall didn't let his fingers know what his thumb was doing... except for the ropework.
I will miss my big gentle friend Niall. We will miss him.
Rest in peace old friend. Not too much ropework on the pearly gates now!
— Thomas, Norma, David and Luke Timmons

I'm so sorry to hear of Niall's death.
I wouldn't have got to know Niall only for Bear. He walked Bear along part of my school-bus route and my curiosity about Bear got the better of me, so I stopped one day for a chat and then the odd time after that so that the children could say hello to Bear, which they loved.
So thank you, Bear - and rest in peace, Niall.
