— Liam Adams
Ena and family, I was so sad to hear of the passing of Niall. My dad , who also passed recently, who was ex Air Corp and Aer Lingus, would regularly ask of him. I had the pleasure to be his first conversion course, as a 737 instructor. What great patience and a wonderful ability he had to give us the knowledge we needed to pass this important stage of our young career. He was a wonderful captain to fly with, always professional but always put you at ease. His visiting of Brian every week at Peamount was a testimony to his unselfish character. May he Rest In Peace. Hopefully he is sitting with my Dad reliving some Air Corp memories.

I have just learnt of the very sad passing of Niall, a great man and my deepest sympathies are extended to Ena and Family. Niall and I go back to Ballymun in the 50s when he was a great friend with my Brother Bob, I was 5 years younger so always looked up to him! We also served together in the Pearse Battalion, FCA. Niall made contact when Bob passed away in 2014 which was very thoughtful of him and was much appreciated by the Family. I had the great pleasure of renewing our friendship and also meeting Ena in 2015 when visiting The Cottages, in Bettystown. Niall told me that it was there that the desire to fly was born in him. When he was a boy the McGarry Family used to visit Bettystown in the Summer and he used to go down to the beach in the mornings and see the early morning flights from Baldonnel. He said that occasionally one of the aircraft would come down towards him and that was it. He made his dream come true. God Rest Niall.

Our sincere condolences to Ena and the McGarry family, for many years Niall and his great friend Brian McMahon would join our father and local man Francis McKenna for opening day of pheasant shooting on 1st November, it was a day of great reunion and chat, as a child it was like Christmas day as Niall would bring loads of chocolate and sweets from his travels as a pilot. He would certainly devour my mother's fruitcake topped with plenty of butter. A true gentle giant and great family friend over the years, so many memories and great stories of his travels. God bless and rest in peace Niall
