I am very saddened to hear of the sudden and untimely passing of Trigger. My condolences to his wife, Grace and Niall's Mum & Dad, brothers and extended family. I met Niall back in 1997 at NUI Maynooth primarily through our love of hurling and days in between we did attend a few Greek & Roman Classics lectures! Niall was someone you would always enjoy being in their company with. Never had a negative or bad thing to say about others and was a really sound down to earth fella. The world is surely a lesser place without the great gael, Niall "Trigger" McEneaney. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
— Cathal Duffy, Galway & NUI Maynooth

I have known Niall since primary school. And since then, I’m honoured to have been able to call him my friend. He was the best of us. In life, a sportsman and a scholar. And now a saint. He left us too soon and left us all heartbroken. Gone for now, but he’ll always be with us.

My deepest condolences to Grace, Mr and Mrs MacEneaney and all the families.

RIP Buddy, see you again xx

I have only fond memories of growing up in Matson Lodge across the road from Niall and also had the pleasure of being coached by him with the Mattock Rangers Camogie team. He was endlessly patient and encouraging with me despite my clear lack of any relevant skills. His attitude and commitment to them meant so much to the team. The outpouring of grief and the fabulous tributes that have been paid to him are a testament to the man he was. My deepest condolences to Grace and all the MacEneaneys at this tragic time. Niall will be missed by so many but never forgotten.

Sincerest sympathies to Grace, the Mac Eneaney family and all of Trigger's friends.
From our time together in Maynooth both on and off the field, i can safely say that Trig was one of a kind, a true gentleman, and a kind friend. Anyone who ever had dealings with him only ever had their lives enriched and improved by the encounter. He could truly "talk with crowds and keep his virtue, and walk with kings and not lose the common touch".
He will be sorely missed.
— Noel Carey Cork/NUIM/Tullamore

To Grace and the Mac Eneaney family, words sometimes fail me but especially at times like these. It is never easy to accept death, I’ve been reading a lot of the condolences and pieces written about Niall from his friends, newspaper articles & fellow Gaels. There is one common thread, he was an inspiration to many, leaving his mark on a lot of people especially in the Hurling fraternity. We can only hope that his close knit family take some solace from the words spoken, written and expressed since Niall’s parting.

Niall had so much left to teach & give to the great sport of hurling in the Drogheda Area, Co Louth and the wider GAA community, he’s gone now to have an eternal puck about with our most famous county hurler Cú Chulainn. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.
— Danny O’Brien Secretary O’Raghallaighs GFC
Sincere sympathies to Niall's wife Grace., family& friends. I only knew Niall briefly. He was a lovely guy loved by all his colleagues. May he rest in peace

To Niall’s family and wife,my heart aches for your loss, Niall was my friend, I loved him and I will miss him.

He was one of the best people I have ever known, the term pure gentleman doesn’t come close to Niall’s true nature. He inspired and brought joy to everyone he knew. I used to call him little Hulk because he had a fire in his belly rare to other people, a solid individual that embodied loyalty and determination.

It is humbling to see the qualities he imbued echo through the lives of those he touched.

Niall my dear friend, me auld flower, I will miss you. “May you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand, and may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home.”
— Jason Moran
Niall , was a true gentleman to chat to , and a dedicated Hurling man. He was a pleasure to talk to on the sideline but a nightmare to mark when i played him on the pitch in our younger days.

He will be badly missed and Louth Hurling and the GAA have lost a true Gael

God rest you Niall , gone too soon
— John O Brien ( Pearse Og HC / Wild Geese HC)
Offing my sincere condolences to Grace and all of Niall’s family and friends who mourn him. It’s clear that Niall had a major impact on a lot of people but our mourning pales in comparison to the pain you all feel.

To Trigger,
When I was a teenager and you took over our camogie team, I heard great things about you from the girls and was excited to start the season with you. At the first training session you lived up to all the hype and more. Your passion for the game, your care for the players, encourage advice and your wanting for every one on the team to succeed was unmatched. You made me a better player and gave me great advice that I will never forget. Knowing you were on the sideline at our matches over the years gave me great drive and determination to go all in. I will miss you Trig.

Ár dheis Dé go raibh a Anam.
— Katie Vaughey, Mattock Rangers Camogie
