Sincere sympathy to Noel’s family. He was a talented journalist who delighted in the power of words and was proud to be pedantic. I’ll especially remember his kindness and his wicked sense of humour. Rest in Peace.

Noel was great fun and ferociously talented. It was a joy to work with him in The Irish Times. My condolences to his family.

I'm so sorry to hear that Noel has died - and I'm sure he would have had no time for "passing".

I am saddened to hear of Noel's too early death. My condolences to his family. I remember Noel well from our days in The Irish Times, a talented man.

Noel was the author of the children's book 'Down the Corner' published by the Ballyfermot Community Arts Workshop. This was a unique educational project, that aimed to provide reading materials, based on growing up in Ballyfermot to the schools in Ballyfermot. The book was later made into a film directed by filmmaker Joe Comerford and produced by Art O' Briain. Noel was a fantastic writer, had great wit and commitment to the Ballyfermot community. He also wrote many articles for 'The Ballyfermot People', the community newspaper.

My father Michael knew him from his time in Ballyfermot in the 70s. I got to know him later on. A great writer/journalist, socialist, trade unionist and always a gentleman on any occassion I met him. May he RIP.
