Sincere condolences to Norbert's family on his untimely passing.
I met him some years ago in Royan, France.
I was introduced by a mutual friend with whom I'd served in the, now disbanded 8th Bn FCA, Ray Lawrence.
Norbert was a very much a gentleman and good company. I'm very glad that I got to meet him on that occasion.
May he enjoy eternal rest.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que Jane et moi avons appris le décès brutal de Norbert. Aussi, je vous présente à vous Eléanor, à vos enfants Cillian et Grainne, à vos petits-enfants, ainsi qu’à toute votre famille, mes très sincères condoléances, dans ce moment douloureux.
Je n’oublierai jamais Norbert. C’était un homme discret, intelligent, chaleureux, passionné, attentif aux autres, toujours de bonne rencontre, avec son petit sourire, et ses mots pleins d’humour teintés parfois de malice.
Jane et moi étions vraiment heureux de vivre à vos côtés, dans le camping lumineux de St Georges de Didonne, paisible au printemps et animé l’été.
Vous formiez, tous les deux, un couple extraordinaire, plein de tendresse, plein d’amour devrais-je dire, élégant et raffiné.
J’ai toujours considéré Norbert, comme un véritable gentleman. Son souvenir restera à jamais gravé dans ma mémoire.
Chère Eléanor, la vie est cruelle quand elle sépare les époux. Je sais que vos enfants et vos proches amis vous apporteront protection et amour dans le moment présent et pour le futur. Votre foi profonde vous aidera aussi à affronter cette difficile épreuve.

Eleanor, Cillian, Grainne, It was with a heavy heart that we heard of the sudden death of dear Norbert , a devoted husband and father.
Norbert was the kindest of men, someone who was steadfast in his support for others, positive of outlook, dependable, intelligent, amiable, perceptive and fun to be with. We have many happy memories of being with Norbert in St Georges . Viville and Avoca

My deepest condolences on the death of Norbert. I remember meeting him every year in France, when I was younger. He was along with Eleanor was my grandparents Jim and Maureen Frawley’s good friend. They all met at La Place or many cafes in the square in Saint Georges de Didonne. I will always remember him giving me cookies. He will be missed terribly.
