On behalf of the Downs family in Dublin I wish to sympathise with the McGovern family on the death of Owen Roe. Owen Roe and my late mother, Maureen Sweeney, grew up around the same time in Swad and his name always had a magical ring to it, due to his football fame, when I was a boy holidaying in Swad. I spoke to him on his 90th birthday and that charm of yore was still very much in evidence. May he rest in peace.
