My sincerest condolences to Bridie and all the families- To Maureen and Sean and all your families at this very sad time for you all . Circumstances do not permit me to support you in person on this last day of June but I was one of many who were with you in spirit throughout a moving ceremony. Everything was said that encapsulated the essence of the man I knew for nearly 70 years - and this goodness will bring consolation to you all in the days ahead . I had the dubious privilege of going to Thurles with him and his Dad for a match against the ould enemy and we couldn’t watch it together- Paddy would head in one direction- Willie in the opposite and me just getting out of the way-
‘‘Twas terrific when we won - but when we lost …. Silence in the car on the way home !!!!!
Paddy had an ingrained sense of the spiritual which first manifested itself when he served Mass in Ballyragget - and then my brother Eamon wore his lovely handmade Surplus some years later in the same church . I know he would expect Bridie and the children to be brave but he would also know your grief - so he’ll still be watching and praying for you all in the next while when the loss is felt more deeply. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
