Saddened to learn of the death of Mr Kirwan he was a fantastic teacher and never gave up on even the most troublesome students. I met him once in a nursing home I worked in and it was a opportunity for me to thank him for his patients and commitment to his students. I spent the last years of secondary school (St Josephs Drogheda) sharing a desk with Paddy. He was the ideal "deskmate" anyone could have. With gentle determination he gently ploughed his own furrow.

Paddy was a teacher of mine in O.L.M He helped me out a lot with special needs and even got me reassessed before leaving school so I could keep my exam accomodations In college. I'll never forget his shock in first year when he saw I was actually able to speak.
