My sympathies to all of the Lennon family on this very sad news. Ben was a true gentleman and it was an absolute pleasure knowing him. He is one person who I only ever have happy memories of, especially of his amazing music talent. I simply loved being in his company. The 'Master's Daughter' Benefit concert in memory of Patsy in Manorhamilton, followed by the Lock in that he arranged in Heraghty's Bar a few years ago, seems all the more special now. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

John, Maurice, Brian and David. Our family have such warm memories of all the sessions we went to with your father. He was a talented musician, kind man , and wonderful friend to our father Phil. I know they are all having a rousing session somewhere free from the cares of this world. It is heartwarming to see all the kind condolences from others and to know that there are so many who cared. It's a tribute to a live well lived. Thinking of you all at this time.

We were very sad to here the news of Ben's passing. He was such a wonderful man, charming, warm, inclusive and the most amazing fiddle player. What a legacy he leaves behind! And knowing that his sons followed in his footsteps must have given him much joy. We have many happy memories of Ben playing all around Rossinver and beyond. Our condolences to you Maurice and family! Our hearts are with you!
— Mary and Paul Bradley
Mo chomhbhrón le Clann Uí Lionnáin uilig. Always a gentleman, Ben represented all that is good in Irish traditional music and was one of its most popular ambassadors. A wonderful fiddle player who could put his unique rhythmic swing on any tune, he struck me as someone who had an insatiable appetite for fiddle playing. Like many others, I will cherish fond memories of sessions with him where his storytelling and good humour made for excellent company. Between tunes on my first session with him in Drumshambo, I recall getting advice from him about how to properly hook a salmon! He has created a great legacy and I hope, in time, that the broader traditional music community will be in a better position to celebrate that legacy soon. Le gach dea-ghuí, Liam O'Connor agus an fhoireann san ITMA

I was sorry to hear that Ben passed away. I have great memories of him and all his family, from when he played music and ceilli'ed with my father Phil. My father had a lot time for Ben; Ben was kind, witty, talented and a gentleman. There was some great sessions, including Christmas night in Ballymore. I am sure Ben, Phil Rooney, Patsy and Dolly Rooney, are having a great session and catch-up with local tunes from North Leitrim up there. He will rest in peace for sure, a lovely man. My deepest sympathies to the family.
