I didn't know Pat but knew his late brother Michael through our insurance careers. I recall admiring Pat as a superb Clare forward gracing the green sod of Semple Stadium at a time of limited success for Clare hurling. May he Rest in Peace with all the great hurlers gone before him.

Pat has now joined the ranks of men wielding their caman on the level lawns of God, his arrival will bring artistry and calculating craft to the action on the field while the after match conversation will be enlivened by his fountain of knowledge and sense of fun.

What was supposed to be a one-off interview in the Kings became an enriching 10 year friendship.

Saddened to hear of Pat's passing, our deepest sympathy to you all. Many years ago when we got off the Dart from Croke Park and into The Club Bar, Dalkey in all our Clare gear we were approached by Pat who has been a friend since. Two Clare people who discovered they lived a mile apart in Clare and now a mile apart in Dublin. Pat was a gentle, kind and chatty person with always a smile on his face. I will miss seeing him about and stopping for the chat.

So sorry to hear of Pat's death, what a kind and gentle person who took a great interest in everyone whom he met, whether for a chat and morning cuppa in Hogan's aka, The King's Inn, or a discussion and the evening pint. Pat always had a smile and welcomed anyone to his table. Pat will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure in meeting him. May you Rest in Peace, Pat.
