Patrick (Paddy) Cunneen

Sincere sympathy to the Cunneen and Downey families on the death of Paddy. He was a lovely person and I always enjoyed meeting him in town and having a chat about hurling. He had a great knowledge of the game. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Met Paddy over the years, knew his sport, and certainly his hurling, and why not with his record with Limerick, goalkeeper on the 1955 Munster Championship winning team etc. Nice man. RIP.

As a kid I used to try and score goals against Paddy in the old slanted St.Patrick’s field which was just below where he lived on his farm. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and every time I met him I said….“how’s Limerick’s Greatest ever Goalkeeper”…..and Paddy would smile. May he rest in Peace.

Paddy, was a great pal of my late father Gerry McMahon from Thomondgate. I got to know the man himself through my dad over the last 25 years or so. God rest Paddy. It was always nice to meet you walking about town in the early evenings. My condolences to Paddy's family.

So sorry to learn of Paddy's death. I remember him in goal for Saints and Limerick. Two greats of Mackey's "greyhounds" gone to God within days. The other being Vivian Cobbe. May they both rest in peace.
