Deepest condolences to Ruth & extended McSwiney family. Paddy was much loved and highly regarded as a gentleman who was both generous and kind to a fault and full of charm and wit both in and out of the water. He was held in great esteem & highly thought of as both a friend and fellow SSC club member by my late parents, Kevin & Sal and as a senior player leading by example to younger members like myself. So sad to hear of his passing. May he Rest in Peace.

My condolences to Ruth and all the McSwiney Family .... Paddy and I arrived on Glen Abbey Road the same year 1953 and spent much of our childhood there before I departed in 1960 to Wicklow with Parents. Our paths crossed again in BlackRock from 1969 to 1971 . Again in later life our paths crossed often in business . Paddy always had a smile on his face and His good humour was infectious . His knowledge and business acumen was undoubted. I was so sorry to hear of His passing . Paddy certainly left His mark on those whose lives He touched upon . RIP Paddy .

So sorry to hear this news of Paddy’s death. Please accept my deep condolences and his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

As a member of the organising committee for the recent school reunion for the Class of 1971 at Blackrock, I can tell you that we were very sad that Paddy was not well enough to attend the reunion, especially as he so wanted to be there. He was very much in our minds then and he was sorely missed, especially at the lunch event at the RIYC, which meant so much to him over the years. He is remembered with great affection by his friends and classmates from school, who were shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and he and his family are very much in their thoughts and prayers.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
— David Tilsley
