I am grateful to have had the opportunity of meeting him in our home in Brooklyn a few years ago - he sat on a chair in the kitchen and chatted to me while I cooked dinner. And then again at Lisa and Karsten’s wedding in Carlingford. I have very fond memories!

Dear Carmel,

Deepest sympathy to you and all the family at Pat's sudden passing.

I have been thinking of him all morning.
Here is an early memory.
We were about 10 years old and had a plan to get cigarettes. Pat wrote a letter to one of his older brothers in New York asking him to send us a carton of cigarettes. We took the letter to the post office and got an airmail stamp. We figured it would take about a week to get there and maybe another week for the cigarettes to arrive. We spent many mornings waiting on College Street to intercept the postman so Pat's mother wouldn't receive the mail.
I vividly remember the great sense of anticipation we got every time we saw the postman approaching....today is the day.
It took about a month before it finally dawned on us that the cigarettes weren't coming.

So sorry to hear of Pats passing. May his soul Rest-in-Peace.
Last nigh (Thursday) we were reminiscing about our days in Jerusalem.
Pat, John (RIP) and Teddy and myself arrived in Jerusalem in June/July 1972.
Pat returned to the G S after 1 year , most of which he was assigned to Damascus.
We lost contact but I always enquired after him from my good friend Willie M (RIP).
Keep safe and Pat will after ye from the great bedroom in the sky.
