Deepest sympathy to Sean, Lucinda, Brid and the extended Neville families on the passing of your beloved Pat. Great memories of growing up in the Burrow, playing hockey and cricket in Portrane and travelling for years on the early train to work. Pat was a great bowler in cricket and hence the nick name "Gubte "after the famous Indian bowler. Great memories indeed may Pat now rest in eternal peace.

It was with great sadness I received a call this morning relaying the news that one of my ex Delvin team mates had passed away. My daliances with rugby began at the commencement of the 1970's and it became a part of my life ever since. During the course of my involvement at all levels, I came across wonderful people right across the spectrum of the game. Those of us who joined Delvin in those early 70's days, were met by members of the club with whom we made instant friendship. Paddy Neville was foremost among them and when I made 2nd row on the first XV Paddy was my Loose Head Prop. He was a wonderful character, on and off the field. If there was a popularity poll among the ex members of Delvin RFC, "Neviller" would win it hands down, such was his genuine demeanour. It was so fortuitous, and now poignant, that we had a reunion of those Delvin players from all those years ago last April in the Neptune Hotel. The most popular among us was, Paddy Neville. The big smile, the handshakes and embraces, all displayed a genuine love for our great friendship with Paddy Neville. We now mourn and lament his sad departure from this life and extend our sympathy to brother, Sean and sisters, Lucinda and Brid.
— Seamie Briscoe - Ex Delvin RFC
