To Audrey and the boys, and to Catherine, Paddy, Niall, Colm and Alan, I’m truly so sorry for your loss.

I ‘ve known Paul almost all my life, since he became such good friends with my brothers. He became at times the 4th child in our house, and I still recall the holiday he took with us to Kerry, when reference was passed on every body of water we saw, as a potential fishing spot.

He had a times questionable music taste (Five Star!), but he did lend me a load of Indie cassettes back in the early ‘90s, that helped establish my own personal music taste and love for that genre. It was great to meet up with him last summer in Malahide Castle to see Blur, which only felt right, as it was he who had lent me those cassettes 30 years prior.

Our family still make reference to Paul every time we see a box of After Eights at family gatherings, following his tradition of gifting a box of the chocolates to my mother each Christmas when we were growing up.
But that was Paul, always selfless and always smiling. We will all miss you xxx

I met Paul working at IBS Software. From day 1, he struck me as passionate, fun, an airline nerd in the best sense and family loving.

My most recent memory of Paul was the fall of last year. He was so excited about being able to get tickets to the Washington Commanders US football game and to be able to share that experience with his family.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Audrey, Alex, Ryan, Jake and the rest of Paul’s family. May he rest in peace.

Dear Byrne Family, am so sorry for your loss. I worked closely with Paul as a customer, then colleague, and despite being in Hong Kong we become good friends over the years in the airline industry. Paul always brought energy and laughs with him everywhere. As someone else said here, he was always smiling and upbeat. He will be sorely missed, my thoughts and wishes of strength during this time. Paul, rest in peace mate.
— Mark McDonald, Hong Kong
Dear Audrey, Ryan, Alex and Jake,
Sending my condolences to you all in your time of grief. I was in college with Paul when DCU was NIHE. He maide learning about bits and bytes very entertaining. We got the updates from the whatever TV program was on the night before – whether was the “180” from a darts competition or some reenactment of a popular drama. This was the time of great early 80s music yet Paul had no shame of his disco moves dancing to Cool and the Gang – Celebration – fingers spread – elbows alternating, his body bopping. I would say he was a one man watch owner at that stage yet there were signs of unique fashion style emerging – be that colour selection, fullness of sleeve and choice of material [ tartan trousers?]. Paddy and Cathy were talked about regularly and we would check in and see how they were doing. Like a good wine or Sean Connery Paul grew more handsome with age. You and Paul created a full life together – such a hard loss when you still had so much to experience. I do believe he will always be with you as husband, father, son, brother and friend. So best to acknowledge him at the graduations, weddings, Christenings etc so he does not feel left out. Due to a missed flight, I was able to join your celebration of Paul’s life from Bologna airport. I am sure there were many people tuning in from around the world as his heart and humour touched so many. Take in all the love and tenderness you are surrounded by – wishing you ease at this time of grief
— Patricia Howard
Sincere condolences to the Byrne family, I have many years of great memories working with Paul in Datalex…
— Dan O'Brien (Ex-Datalex)
Paul has been a very close friend for nearly 45 years. As kids we bonded over a love of mod and ska music, especially the Jam. As kids we fished together, camped, played football, we started a window cleaning round to make pocket money.

I introduced him to other friends and over 40 years our circle has grown to a group of great friends, known as ‘The Lads’.

The loss of Paul will put a huge hole in 'The Lads', it will put a huge hole in all of our lives, but I cannot imagine the hole it will leave in the lives of Audrey & the Boys, Paddy & Catherine and his Brothers.

You have our love and support.

We should all cherish those very special memories of Paul, because he was a very special person.

I am going to miss you so much, we all are.

Goodbye pal.
— Alan Wright
Dear Audrey, Ryan, Alex and Jake. We have such great memories of Paul and you, Audrey, throughout our softball days, and words cannot express our sadness. Sending you all our love at this very sad time. Mo and Neilo xxx

I was deeply shocked to hear of Paul's sudden passing. Having had the privilege to work alongside him at Datalex and OpenJaw, I was constantly in awe of the breadth and depth of his knowledge and expertise within the travel industry. Paul was not only a colleague but a mentor from whom I learned a great deal. His passing is a significant loss to our field, as he truly was one of its brightest minds. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. May they find the strength and support they need to navigate through this sorrow. Paul's legacy and contributions will not be forgotten.
— Andreas Schurrle
I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing.I have great memories of playing with "P.J." for Strand United for many years. He was always a very solid right back but an even better team mate and a great clubman.
"P.J." was the sort of player who made you want to turn up as you would always be sure of a great game and a good laugh in the pub afterwards.I'll never forget his legendary sports bag which was so well organised when everyone else's was just a mess.
After every game or training session there would be a line of guys asking for deodorant, aftershave, Deep Heat or plasters. He never once said to anyone "There is a place called a supermarket lads" and handed over his things with the best will in the world at any time.Typical "P.J.", generous kind, and consideratebut also his own man. Please accept my deepest condolences Audrey and the boys, Paul's mam and dad and his brothers.
— George Clarkson ,Tokyo ,Japan

I have been knowing Paul for almost 20 years, meeting him at conferences and sharing beers. He was always smiling and upbeat. Always willing to listen and share a thoughts. No matter what part of the world, I was always sure I was going to meet him. I will miss him dearly. His knowledge, his warmth, his laughs, his accent... something I will carry in my memory forever. Rest in Peace dear friend.

I only met Paul a couple of years ago, when I was Captain of the club and I was immediately struck by his charm, generosity, wit and sense of humour.
He straight away offered to help with the running of the club and became an inter-club team manager with us. He was due to manage one of our teams this year.
He will be greatly missed by everyone in the club, such was his popularity.
We used to keep in touch over upcoming gigs to attend and review past gigs.
Paul was the same age as me and I'm still shocked with the news.
My heart goes out to all his family and close friends, and I hope his fond memories and the respect he earned around the world will get you through this tough time.
Swords Golf Club has lost a friend.
— Colm McCann (Swords Golf Club)
Paul's passing was sudden, and it's still sinking in that he's gone. We will miss him terribly. Dee and I have known Paul for over 35 years. He was one of our first hires at Datalex, way back when we were based in a Georgian house over Styx nightclub on Leeson St. Paul, his brother Niall, Audrey, and myself were regulars on one of the pioneering co-ed softball teams in Dublin during the 90's, the Batpak. Paul had time for everyone; it was his defining virtue. Sincerest condolences to Audrey, Ryan, Alex, Jake, and the extended family.
— Dee and Steve Metzler (Datalex)

My deepest condolences Audrey and Family. Paul was my first team lead when I started at Datalex in the 90's and I worked with him in Howth and Atlanta. He was fantastic, always up for a laugh and helped get me started in my career. He was a great warm and friendly man, I'll miss him.
— Vinnie Canning
A wonderful man, great colleague and for me a true Irishman… spent some special years working together, sharing good moments, now great memories. Lucky to met him not so long ago and enjoy again his fantastic life loving company. Sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, be always proud of Paul, he was a great man! Rest in peace.
— Laurentiu Padeanu (Datalex)
To Audrey, Niall and family.
I was deeply saddened to hear of Paul's untimely passing. Even though our paths crossed for only a few brief years, Paul was someone I had deep respect and affection for. As the first director of the Leinster Softball League, Paul brought energy, vision and wisdom to the role. He influenced a younger generation, many of whom would go on to make significant later contirbutions to the sport.. As someone who later served in the same role, I learned a lot - not least Paul's patience with impatient, scattered young fellas whose enthusiasm occasionally overrode their judgement!
I know from conversations with others whose interactions with Paul were in other spheres, that he made a deep impression, but I would like to mark the influence he had and the affection and respect in which he was held in this particular domain.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
— Kevin Kelly (Softball)
