Sincere condolences to all of Philip's family. I haven't seen Philip since about 1974, nearly 50 years ago when we were at school in Ballyfermot, We had many great training sessions running in the Phoenix Park. I remember in a marvelous cross country race, Gerry Ward came in first, then Phillip and I managed to scrape in in third place. The two of them applauded me as I went over the line. I could never keep up with those two rabbits. You are an enlightened spirit now Philip in a sea of eternal tranquility, God bless you.

I was saddened to hear of the sudden death of my old friend Phil. He was frequent guest at a special place in Sacramento CA called the Brick Oven Pizza. He worked there at times and was always a fun loving father to his kids, expressed many interesting views for discussion, good dart player, aspiring chef, and a loyal friend to regulars. He leaves many friends in this part of America. My sincere condolences to all of the family and friends that are grieving his untimely death.

So sorry to hear about Phillip. I knew him from the Brick. He was a great friend and a wonderful man. Even though I haven’t seen him in awhile, I still felt as if I was with him everyday as we played games on the phone daily. I will miss that. His passing was a surprise. He will be missed.
He’s a peace now.

An Old friend from Claddagh Road, Back in the days. We spent many a day training with the youth of the area with the running club, and great weekend away camping.
A big shock and I will fondly remember Phlip.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
May he Rest In Peace.
— Pat Ritchie
Dear Pip, so many memories we shared. You will always be remembered in a kind light. The children (AnneMarie and Brendan) and I are still in shock and trying to comfort each other. Missing your big smile

It's so hard to wrap my head and heart around it. I am crushed.
My da was not like anyone else's dad growing up. There was magic in him, humor, and light. He'd give you the shirt off his back, he'd put himself in danger to help others, and he'd share stories that sometimes had me questioning reality. He loved taking walks outdoors, cooking excellent food, watching science fiction shows, singing, philosophizing, and learning. He passed on culture and lore to me, weaved such tales that it's no wonder I'm a dreamer. He taught me to stand up for what I believe in, look out for others, the value of generosity, how kindness and love are magic, and to treasure the people in my life. He loved people.
He had a huge personality. I still get recognized as Phil's daughter, and I've always been a little irritated not to have my own name in their minds, but now I guess it'll be nice to be remembered as such. He always made quick friends wherever he went.
My da was not perfect, his flaws remind me that he's human. He was the first person to show me by example how important apologizing is and how important it is to seek feedback.
There is a deep, painful wound in my heart, but there is love and joy and light as well. Things my da passed on to me.
— AnneMarie
