Dear Karen / Dear Elaine
I am sorry to receive the news of your father’s death and would like to tell you that you are in my thoughts as you grieve your loss.
In 1980, for the period of 6 months, I was allowed to take care of and ride your horses. My stay in your home was a great adventure for me, taking its peak in the opportunity to participate in hunts with Mr. 0'Driscoll and "The Carbery Hounds”. Furthermore, every Sunday I was allowed to go on various excursions with you and explore the beautiful surroundings. Your father and you were so very kind to me and all these great memories are always present in my mind. I am also blessed with wonderful memories of the time when you came to Switzerland with your father for a ski holiday. I will always remember his energetic presence and vigorous charisma.

I have fond memories of working in 73 South Mall, Cork. I remember PJ, on a few occasions, visiting me in my office at the top of the building and sharing some lovely poetry with me.

Sincere condolences to PJ’s family. He and my late father (Padraig O’Dowd) were boyhood friends in Bandon - they were in the ‘Cross Swords Gang’ together. I remember him as a very kind man and a lifelong best friend of my Dad’s. May he rest in peace.
