Deepest sympathy to Kathleen, Isobel and Austin on John’s passing and also to his dear brother Peter and family.
My dad Liam is his first cousin. I have had a few entertaining chats with him over the years usually at family funerals and sometimes when he visited the State Lab. He was always good humoured and friendly. I was always proud that I was related to him for his great work for Ireland.

Condolence to John's wife and family. He did a very important and unpleasant job which meant a lot to many people. On one occasion having worked for several hours he asked the guard on duty at the door "Could you rustle up a few sandwiches" The guard just began to gag at the idea.
