Deepest sympathy to Professor Wards family. Professor Ward looked after my sister in 1985 in Crumlin & saved her life. His care and compassion will always be remembered in our family
— McGill Family, Donegal
I was a patient of Dr Ward back in the 1970s. One of my earliest and clearest childhood memories is of his kind words and lovely smile. My parents spoke of him fondly over the years and always held him up as an example of what a bedside manner should be. We were so happy to know that he lived a long and fulfilled life surrounded by a loving family - he deserved the very best. I hope you take comfort in knowing what a special contribution he made to so many people's lives. May he rest in peace
— Kathryn Moore

Deepest sympathies to Pauline and all the family. I will be forever grateful to have met Prof. Ward over many years since the setting up of the Long QT Syndrome support group here in Ireland. His expertise and compassion to us as families who lived with the condition that he discovered will always be remembered.
I had the privilege of speaking to him and Pauline only in September. He will be sadly missed but thought of very fondly.

Conor was a lovely, intelligent, humorous, charming man blessed with the equally welcoming and lively Pauline. At one point their home in Shankill was like a second home for me and the rest of Kevin's friends, though the warm welcome did not preclude Conor hammering us at tennis...He has left warm and grateful memories everywhere. Deepest sympathy to all his family and many friends
— Donal Curtin
Our deepest sympathy and condolences on the death of Conor, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Ian, Fiona, Nicola, Michael, Clodagh, Grace and Daniel O' Gorman

May the Lord support us all the day long,
Till the shades lengthen and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done.
Then in his mercy may he give us a safe lodging, and holy rest, and peace at the last.
— O' Gorman Family

What a truly amazing, kind, gentle, patient man and physician, with a sharp wit and great sense of humor. Conor has left such a legacy. A wonderful clinician, he pioneered the development of modern Paediatrics in Ireland - as patient advocate, tireless teacher of younger doctors both in the hospital and UCD, questioning researcher and Founding Dean of the Faculty of Paediatrics in the RCPI. Privileged to be his colleague, I learned so much from his example and care of patients - and of parents especially those bereaved by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. May you be comforted in your loss. May we carry on his legacy.Thank you for sharing him with us.
— Roisin Healy
Sincere condolences to all family. Conor was a lovely man and a great pal of our Dad Gerry Brady. Conor's humour & wit made you laugh. He danced to Donovan in 1970's and played tennis as well as his kids. He will be remembered well as the cool Conor who loved fireworks and parties and getting everyone together. RIP
— Angela Brady, and Brady family

Conor's humanity, erudition and gift for teaching made him a medical icon. He was a role model for generations of young doctors. But, apart from being the ideal physician, he was one of the nicest people one could ever encounter and we will always cherish memories of time spent in his company at home and abroad. Deepest condolences to Pauline, Kevin, Michael, Helen, Neil, Susie and the entire Ward family at this sad time. Deepest sympathies to the Ward family. His life was truly a life well lived in the service of others and future generations. The all Ireland integrated paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgical service brought together by his colleagues and trainees is surely the best legacy that he could have hoped for. Starting from his initiating outreach clinics the present arrangement must have surpassed his wildest dreams.

Growing up next door to WardWorld, I have endless fond memories of a wonderful home created by Conor and Pauline. It’s hard to mention one without the other, even in a condolence, as they have long been an inspirational couple who welcomed everyone with great humour and generosity. Conor’s brilliance as a physician is well recorded but from my close vantage point, this was equally matched as an exemplary husband, father, neighbour and friend. To Pauline, his adored and most loving wife, Kevin, Michael, Niall, Helen and Susie, I extend my deepest sympathy on the loss of such an exceptional man.
— Claire Cronin
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Prof Ward. He played a major part in our lives and helped our family so much with care and compassion.
He wrote a letter to my parents outlining our sisters complex case and the prognosis but ended it with “ Kids have a habit of making liars out of Doctors” That kid did just that and now 40+ years later she continues to do so.
RIP.
