Sincere condolences to all the Hynes family on the sad passing of Mike. He was a great teacher and Chemist and I remember him fondly from many years ago as an undergraduate and Biochemistry postgraduate. Always so friendly and helpful.

I am sorry we did not know Michael but we are great friends of his Sister Eibhlin and we have heard a lot about him (all to the good) and the close knit family. We are sorry for your loss.
I am writing this for myself and family but also Rathnew Community Centre where Eibhlin is the 'Chief' but also gives us glimpses of her family life

From the distance I send my deepest and sincerest condolences to Mike’s family, in particular Patricia. Sadly I heard about Mike leaving us. Patricia and he welcomed me in their middle when I was coming over to Galway for my studies in his research group They both opened a door for me to connect with Ireland and its great people in a very special way. Furthermore Mike inspired me in my professional and much more in my private life with his curiosity, passion and kindness. He took me for sailing, something that always stayed with me afterwards and always will, such as my love for Ireland and the Irish friends. Thanks a lot Mike, rest in peace. Thanks a lot Patricia and family - I send you love and wish you strength and unity in this sad moment and that sadness and feeling of loss may turn into positive memories of Mike and remembering him and the time with him. Ask Mike Hynes. He will know! And he always did. He was the go to for any Chemistry or Health and Safety problem. Also full of the chat about anything else you might care to discuss. RIP Mike.
