With wonderful memories and the continued desire to fulfil his teaching, I will sincerely miss him. My sincere condolences to you Margaret and the family.

Mike was an excellent and well-published geologist and a key supporter of the Boston University field camp. His mentorship to his students and colleagues was both sensible and inspirational. He will be missed by many, but he has left a wonderful legacy.

So sad to hear the passing away of a great Professor. I was a student of his from 1993 - 1997 at NUIG. Mike was not only a gifted scholar but he connected with his students and made complex concepts understandable.

My deepest condolences to his wife and family. What a brilliant , gifted teacher, and true gentle man. The world was a better place for Mike's time here...and we were all made better people through our contact with him. May he rest in peace.
