Dear Mona, Rosalind & Roderic, I am so sorry for your loss. I feel so lucky to have known Ray. My childhood is full of wonderful memories of Ray telling his fantastic stories over endless dinners in Wicklow, Italy, Majorca, Cork and more, with Dad so overcome with laughter you weren’t sure if you were laughing at Ray …or Dad’s reaction to Ray! I’ll always remember him sitting under a cherry tree, reading De Lampedusa in his statutory Panama hat watching you singing Minnie Ripperton to baby Rosalind. We all loved Ray so much and I’m so grateful for the memories. He was a wonderful man and we will miss him terribly but I feel privileged that I knew him. You honoured him beautifully yesterday. Thinking of you all. See you soon. Love S x

Dear Mona, Roz and Roderic, I was so sorry to learn of this tragic loss and have been thinking of you all since. I remember first meeting Raymond at Roz’s graduation in Cambridge. Two things stood out to me then: both what a spectacular and genuinely hilarious storyteller he was, but also how evidently and immensely proud he was of Roz’s achievements. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís, Cillian.
— Cillian Ó Fathaigh
Dearest Mona, Rosalind and Roderic: This is a terrible time: even we are still only processing the huge loss to all of the tragic, sudden passing of the truly remarkable Ray. However you will always have the wonderful memories of the special times you all had as such a full and close-knit family, and the support Ray generously gave so freely to one and all. Though the memories of love, friendship and caring will never hide the loss, they can in time help ease the pain. You are always in our thoughts as we look ahead to being there for you in the difficult times to follow and far beyond. With love...
