I had the great honour to know Ray from the time my father recruited him into Traffic while both on duty at the R D S . Later I worked with him on Garda Patrol for several years. I also worked with him on major operations, demos and strikes, where even as a Skipper his counsel was sought by those senior to him, ' What do you think Ray '. The guy just had it. The Traffic family was always tight, loss was always felt and shared. My consolation is the thought of Berney King, Barney O Reilly and Campo , bikes parked, keys hung up, telling yarns, remembering old friends. My thoughts are with you. Michael O Reilly retd. sgt AGS / 6th Field MPC

To the Campion I wish to express my sincere condolences on behalf of myself and Charlotte to all of Raymond’s family. I have nothing but the fondest memories of a great man. My memories include scouting trips and sometimes a soccer coach where once he believed in me that he gave me a start and allowed me to score a hat trick, something never achieved and never to be again. Mr campion also was an all rounder and even on one very serious occasion got me to hospital which proved to be life saving. I could continue with the memories but perhaps I can talk through them with you all when we meet up in the very near future. Once again my deepest sympathies to you all and may god bless and care for you over the coming days.
