Redmond (Ray) sat in front of me at class in our last school year. He had a near constant grin and could be very funny. I too remember sessions listening to his record collection on that top flight hi fi of his. A highlight of ours, was his delight when I sold him my combat jacket (army surplus) back then and off he went. Bless him. RIP. My sympathies to his family
— John Brennan

I remember Redmond with great fondness during our time at Gonzaga. Although I haven't seen him since the 1970s, I've had occasional reports of his travels. Well done Redmond, you always did it your way.

If life is supposed to be short and sweet then Redmond made the most of it. He challenged a life changing diagnosis in his youth and went forward step by step (and gave instructions to everyone around him!). I met him in the early 70’s and we had a few political adventures together. Redmond was indomitable. Deepest sympathy to his family
— Marie Mac Mahon and Tommy

Redmond was, for me, an out & out Gonzaga boy… deep in the cut & thrust of our schooldays together then, & later with a huge memory of all his classmates & their entire families.
He was so loyal, full of jokes & stories about school, college & life. He was endlessly entertaining, good humoured, & grateful. He did not complain about the way his illness compromised his more recent days.
How sorely he’ll be missed by us all but with his inspiring bravery & gaiety he’ll remain forever in our memories & hearts!
RIP dear Redmond:….
— James Coyle
Very sad to hear the news of your brother Justin. Thinking of you and all of your lovely family in these very difficult and strange times. Lots of love Sue Roe ❤️❤️❤️
— Sue Roe
My parents were great friends with Mary and Rory so our families often intertwined in the ‘50s and ‘60s in Nutley Avenue, Goatstown Road, Cowper Road, Rosslare, Bunbeg in Donegal, the house in Ticknock and on one occasion in Newcastle, Co Down.
Redmond always had a twinkle in his eye, and a smile, characteristics which he inherited particularly from his father.
Despite the fact that he was a couple of years younger than me, we received Confirmation in the same ceremony in Beechwood Avenue, which the bishop only visited every 4 years.
I don’t think I met him after I left school in 1971 until we met some years ago at the Gonzaga dinner. Despite his physical challenges, we had a good natter about old times.
Rest in Peace Redmond. Your family and friends will always remember you by that smile!
— David O Higgins
I haven't seen Redmond for more years than I care to remember, but I have fond memories of listening to his LP collection long into the night while talking about matters of both great and little consequence, while drinking endless mugs of Bovril. Happy days. My sincere commiserations to Bethanne, Rod and the other members of the O'Hanlon family.
— Jack McConnell
